Overview

The Corporate Security Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the bank’s physical security program to safeguard employees, customers, assets, and facilities. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, supports risk management initiatives, manages security systems and vendors, and leads training and awareness programs to foster a secure environment across all locations.

Responsibilities

Security Program & Compliance

  • Develop, maintain, and administer the Board-approved Security Program and Privacy Policy.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations (Bank Protection Act, FFIEC guidelines, Texas Finance and Administrative Codes).
  • Collaborate with risk and business line management to align security controls with regulatory requirements and internal policy.
  • Participate in risk assessments, control testing, and audit readiness.
  • Provide annual reports to the Board on the implementation, administration, and effectiveness of the security program, including results of security device testing.
  • Conduct periodic audits for adherence to clean desk and privacy policies.

Physical Security & Incident Management

  • Oversee and maintain security systems (alarms, cameras, access control, vaults, ATMs) across all facilities, in coordination with property and banking center management.
  • Conduct regular inspections of branches, offices, and ATMs to ensure compliance and functionality.
  • Investigate security incidents and coordinate with law enforcement as needed.
  • Administer employee and tenant access cards; maintain access logs and emergency call trees.
  • Ensure proper documentation and retention of incident reports (robbery, burglary, injuries).

Vendor & Technology Oversight

  • Manage vendor relationships for security services and technologies; negotiate contracts and coordinate maintenance.
  • Oversee installation, testing, and upgrades of security equipment and systems.
  • Evaluate new technologies and recommend enhancements to security infrastructure.

Training & Awareness

  • Deliver initial and periodic employee training on security protocols, robbery response, and active shooter preparedness.
  • Distribute security alerts and updates to staff as needed.
  • Foster a security-conscious culture through ongoing education and engagement.

Strategic Planning & Industry Engagement

  • Lead enterprise-wide security risk assessments and develop multi-year security improvement plans.
  • Collaborate with fraud prevention teams to identify patterns and mitigate risks.
  • Implement data-driven security analytics and explore innovative technologies (biometrics, AI surveillance).
  • Build partnerships with law enforcement and industry peers to share intelligence and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Risk Management, or related field (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in physical security, law enforcement, or banking security operations.
  • Strong knowledge of banking regulations, risk management principles, and security compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with security systems (alarms, cameras, access control) and vendor risk management.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and crisis management skills.
  • Analytical thinking and risk assessment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for training and collaboration.
  • Technical aptitude for security technologies and data analysis.
